The shortest distance between
two points is not always a
straight line.
Sometimes you take a hard left,
bereft by the state of the world.
Your life unfurls.
The economy’s in the shitter.
It makes you bitter, but
you’re no quitter. You take pride
in being a pinch hitter.
You’re trapped in the sticks
until you find a way to stay
back in NYC, where you’re
meant to be. You’re done
wallowing in abject misery.
You’re met with much resistance, but
your dogged persistence will be
rewarded soon,
and you’ll be over the moon.
