A Cup of Joe with Someone You Know

“Hey, you! Yeah you, the frazzled career woman who just woke up clutching the black mug that says SEIZE THE COFFEE in white lettering. You’re so out of it right now you probably can’t even remember your own lousy name. Quick, tell me who you are before I commit suicide and slosh around so fast in my pot, it shatters, and you can’t go to work!”

“Kafty Olle,” she mumbles, her bloodshot, sleep-encrusted eyes half-closed.

“Did you say ‘Kafty Olle?’ Come on now, surely you can do better than that. Enunciate before I fall and break my pot!”

The frazzled career woman glances at her empty mug and then at the pot-with-an-attitude, and finally decides that her livelihood is more important than her desire not to acknowledge the precarious predicament she’s now in, so she walks over to the white, marble counter and slams her mug down on its smooth, pristine surface so hard it comes close to breaking. Then she bends down in front of the pot-with-an-attitude. “My name is Kathy Olle. That’s K-A-T-H-Y- O-L-L-E.”

“The name’s Java. Java Blackwell. I was harvested by none other than Juan Valdez in Columbia. Captains and pilots can’t live without me. “Captain, we forgot the Columbian Coffee,” is the worst excuse I’ve ever heard of for delaying the passenger’s travel plans!
